7:00pm  Calcite Centennial Memorial Dedication & Unveiling

Dedication ceremony of the Centennial Landmark which
commemorates 100 years of the Calcite Plant.

The Centennial Landmark honors the 100 year history of the
Calcite Plant and the limestone quarry operations. Working with
Master Potter, Guy Adamec from the Flint Institute of Arts,
students from the Rogers City Area Elementary School
handpainted the ceramic tile pieces which depict this historic
centennial. The Centennial Landmark was designed with
the focus of the piece being interactive with the general
public. It is situated in Lakeside Park near the Sailors' Memorial.

The project received funding support from the Michigan
Humanities Council and was facilitated by the Presque
Isle District Library. Alpena Community College World
Center for Concrete Technology supplied block and
concrete materials. This iconic historical landmark
celebrates a sense of place within the northeast region
of our state for generations to come.

 7:00 p.m. Band Concert:
Lakeside Park Band shell following the Sailors Memorial.
Rogers City,  City Band
